National Champions
Being part of an All-Star Cheerleading program is a lot of work, but for the staff at TNT, this is part-time work. Each and everyone of us has a full-time job during the day and we come to TNT in the evening to spend time with your athletes and work on many skills, both in cheer and lessons in life. Today, however, after a long weekend in Wildwood, New Jersey, is President’s Day and for many of us, we have the day off from our full-time job, which gives us a chance to really reflect on this past weekend, past few months and also look forward to the promise of next season (yes, we are already thinking about that.)
This past weekend was one of the longest weekends in our competition season, spanning 3 days. It all starts with a fun filled event Friday night at the Wildwood Convention Center when Spirit Brands hosts their annual Prom. Both our Tiny and Youth teams attended the first session of the night while our Senior team attended with the older athletes in the second session of the night. This is a night to dress up, hang out and have some fun with the DJ, spend time with friends, and get to hang out with the other teams as well.
Once the fun ends, it’s all about competition. Saturday came around with an early 9:45am call time for our Firecrackers. All prepared and ready to go, they hit the mat and had one of the best performances of the season. This landed them in 1st place at the end of day 1. Ignite then hit the mat and also had an incredible performance. Finally, Bombshells was up and they also had one of the best performances of the season, despite several illnesses and injuries for this team. All 3 teams Hit Zero and earned themselves pins for Day 1.
An afternoon of relaxation and rest, teams bonding together and enjoying the sites of Wildwood, NJ was one of the best parts of this weekend!
Sunday wrapped up the competitions with performances by all 3 teams, and looking some of the best they had all season, yet again. Firecrackers compete in one of the toughest divisions in All-Star Cheer, Tiny Novice, where 5 teams were all in it for the championship. Their Sunday performance was just incredible and they were able to take home the win in this division. Ignite also took home the win in the Youth Novice. Bombshells had tough competition this weekend and took home 2nd place in the Spirit Brands National Championship. The staff at TNT couldn’t be more proud of our athletes this weekend, they were just incredible!
I talked about the lessons in life earlier in this post and this was especially true after Bombshells took 2nd place this past weekend. Many of our athletes were upset and disappointed in the outcome, but our coaches gave them many reasons why they shouldn’t be upset, beyond the fundamentals of cheer.
We are now halfway through Season 5 at TNT All-Star Cheerleading and can’t wait for the last several competitions. We are hard at work planning Season 6, from tryouts, apparel, competition schedules and so much more. Many details will be coming out soon.
Our athletes will be the first to know when information is available. If you have a cheerleader looking to build some skills and prepare for next season, we have South Jersey’s best training program. You can register now for our training program so your athlete is prepared and ready for Tryouts in May. If you are not enrolled in our program, you can still learn more about Season 6 when information is available by subscribing to our mailing list.
